AI (Post 6)

My thoughts on AI would be on the good side, however I do believe that we should not gloss over the possibilities of how AI can negatively impact us. For the good side, I believe that AI can be beneficial for humanity because it can pretty much automate a lot of what people usually do. The era of automation is starting already, as there are stores that do not have a single employee in it and are completely digital. The only thing that a person might do in the store is check for maintenance to ensure that the orders are going through or if the security cameras are working as they should be. AI can also uncover footage that could be seen as too low quality. For example, there have been YouTube videos that are quite low resolution, such as 144p. At that quality, the viewer would just see a bunch of pixels and blur. It would be difficult for someone to process something very defined such as words or text as the pixels and blur would be troublesome to comprehend through. However with the power of AI technology, the AI can upscale a piece of footage from 144p to 4k, which can make it look as high definition as possible. What this means is that footage from the 1980s no longer will look all muddy and pixelated, but the viewer will actually be able to see what happens during that time and can get a better glimpse as what the paste was like rather than try and think about it could be. The bad side of AI is that it could mean the end of humanity worst case scenario. AI could accidentally detonate nukes all over the world and no one would be able to stop it. AI could also leave many more people without jobs as AI take on more and more jobs and start automating things such as being a cashier or trying to deliver packages. AI could also create fake images of people and cause chaos with deepfakes. Being able to frame someone with such programs can end terribly if the technology gets good enough, and it's getting closer and closer to not being able to tell the difference between what is a deep fake and what is not a deep fake.
